Whether you are a novice or your Sanskrit is rusty and you would like to brush up, this subscription course is designed to help you learn the Sanskrit language independently, and at your own pace. Join the definitive introduction to Sanskrit for Yogis! In this course, master the basic vocabulary, grammar, and reading skills that you need in order to engage with the Yoga Sūtra, Bhagavad Gītā, and other philosophical texts in Sanskrit. Students who enroll will have the benefits of expert video lectures and slides to guide them through lessons and exercises. What’s more, the course includes synchronous virtual tutorials where you can directly ask the instructor your specific questions. These tutorials will be recorded, so if you can’t make it, you can send in your questions and have them answered. This course is a must for students of yoga interested in getting the most out of their traditional yoga resources. This Yoga Philosophy course is brought to you and supervised by Dr. Shyam Ranganathan, founder of Yoga Philosophy, translator of Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtra (Penguin 2008) from Sanskrit, and translation expert. Shyam holds an MA in South Asian Studies, an MA and PhD in philosophy, and is a CYA-E-RYTGOLD yoga teacher (over 1000 hours training). Your Course Director in Sanskrit is Anusha Sudindra Rao, who is a PhD candidate in the Department of the Study of Religion at the University of Toronto. Anusha holds BA and MA degrees with a focus on Sanskrit, has participated with international scholars on research projects on Sanskrit manuscripts, and is currently conducting advanced research on the Sanskrit literature of Dvaita Vedānta. Yoga Philosophy is a registered yoga school (CYA-RYSGOLD) and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). ~~~Students can stay as long as they wish in this course: revisit the material while taking advantage of the weekly virtual tutorials (Saturdays 10 am Eastern). Course renews every two months. Two months is sufficient to cover the material. Students may want to stay enrolled longer to take advantage of the continued support. Cancel any time. This course counts towards continuing education requirements.
